The second paper in the amazing research journey by Dr Surya Singh from his PhD turning Lunar Soils (i.e. regolith) to Lunar Steel. The first paper covers the extraction of Fe-Si alloys from lunar regolith, and the second paper takes the next step by refining these alloys towards steel production.

Congrats to Surya for this amazing work, and also Prof Geoff Brooks for his leadership through this entire program at Swinburne University of Technology’s insitu-resource utilisation program at the Space Technology and Industry Institute.

LUNAR STEEL! This is an amazing study undertaken by Dr Surya Singh as part of his PhD at Swinburne led by Prof Geoff Brooks, exploring the conditions under which the soil (aka regolith) of the Moon can be processed to access the iron it contains for potential use on the Lunar surface.
