SmartSatCRC Funded!
Alan Duffy
At nearly a quarter billion dollars (!) of cash and inkind contributions this is the largest space R&D investment in Australian history.
After only just a couple of years the Australian space sector is already unrecognisable thanks to the furious pace of activity, now imagine what it will look like after 7 years of the SmartSatCRC driving the new technological landscape with the largest space R&D investment in Australian history! On a personal level it’s also incredibly exciting to know that we at Swinburne will be a core partner in that nation-defining journey.
The launch by Minster for Science, Industry and Technology Karen Andrews MP, along with SA Premier Steven Marshall, was at UniSA and had such a fun and gleeful atmosphere. The bid has been 18 months of work by over 80 industry and university partners but none have worked harder than Bid Leader Prof Andy Koronios and Peter Nikoloff of UniSA and Nova Systems respectively.
Now we’ve won it, we have to win it, showing new technologies and innovations in the space sector over the next 7 years. I can’t wait to get started.
