You're looking at Swinburne University of Technology's new Pro Vice Chancellor, Flagship Initiatives 🙌
The PVCFI is a new role tasked with driving large and ambitious transdisciplinary research across our flagship research areas by actively engaging with external organisations (including government, industry, NGOs) to identify large-scale opportunities that require university-wide collaboration and the formation of coalitions of universities and partners.
I'll continue my research and interests in space technology/astronomy, spin-out partnerships, and communication activities of course! But now I can expand that remit more broadly across all Flagship Research areas of Space and Aerospace, MedTech and Health, Innovative Planet, and Innovative Society. Think technologies like AI, hydrogen, space, quantum/photonics and more being applied to some of the most urgent issues of our time.
Looking forward to working closely with Swinburne's Research Institutes, Research Platforms, Schools, Government Relations team, and fellow Swinburne Executive leadership (Karen Hapgood Virginia Kilborn Werner van der Merwe Beth Webster amongst many others!) My immense thanks in particular to Karen and Pascale Quester for their belief in me and affording me this chance to support my university colleagues in addressing some of the biggest challenges facing us all this century.
