Showing Victoria's Tech Innovation to Japan

A truly unique experience getting to share the research and commercialisation collaboration between mDetect - Swinburne University of Technology and the The University of Tokyo’s Prof Hiroyuki Tanaka at the Australian Embassy Tokyo. A parntership that is delivering for education, resilience in critical infrastructure, and the resource sector. Getting to be part of an official Trade Delegation is also a first for me - and as the pikachu image shows, I take these opportunities for cultural exchange seriously!

Making it even more special was hearing of the astonishing discoveries and innovations of my fellow Victorians and their Japanese partners. Some of the best and brightest from University of Melbourne Monash University La Trobe University RMIT University spoke in everything from new pharmaceutical production to diagnostic tools, cancer identification to virtual surgical training, and international Women in STEM peer-development and RNA education to my own collaborations’ efforts in critical mineral exploration and safeguarding of tailings waste sites with muons.

A huge thanks for the opening words of Peter Roberts, Victoria’s Commissioner to North Asia Adam Cunneen and MC’ing / superlative hosting by Janine Pitt, Takako Tominaga and Kumiko Tsukamoto and all the various agencies of Global Victoria, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Australian Government Department of Education, DFAT and many others I’m sure!
