Dr Duffy goes to Parliament (and meets the PM!)
Alan Duffy
A pretty surreal experience going to Canberra for the annual Science Meets Parliament when 200 scientists descend on the capital and meet politicians (and get tips from media and lobbyists on advocating for science funding). In my case I got to meet Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Senator Kim Carr. Considering I've only been in the country for a few years and my citizenship just months before it was a staggering honour to meet the highest office in the land. Not sure if my chat influenced the funding for my telescope projects mind.
