How can your old mobile save the planet?
Alan Duffy
It is a pleasure to be the MobileMuster Program Ambassador and support their campaign to have Australian's send in the 5 *million* broken smartphones lying around in homes nationwide.
These phones are not waste but rather a vast reserve of valuable resources that can easily be recycled and reused, finding their way into new products - a concept that can be extended to all products we make known as the Circular Economy.
Once consumers see how easy it is to have their phones be recycled (just register online for a prepaid satchel that is sent to your address, pop it in the post and it's gone!) they can and should expect the same from everything our society makes.
Back to the phones... if our campaign is a success we will have reused the equivalent of nearly 10,000 tonnes of precious minerals and metals, as well as the CO2 saved equivalent to planting 50000 trees. All from us collectively sending in our broken phones. Let's #GoForZero broken phones at home this March.
